Quality Poultry Products makes history exporting Belizean chicken to the Caribbean

Posted: Wednesday, December 30, 2020. 4:00 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Quality Poultry Products (QPP) made history this month, exporting Belizean chicken to Grenada, signaling the country’s entry into the regional poultry export market.

The shipment of some 16,00 pounds of chicken products including chicken legs, wings, breasts, and chicken cuts left Belize on December 23. QPP said that the shipment represents the culmination of work that began back in 2015 to get its facilities certified for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) a globally recognized system for food safety risk management.

The company also noted that the shipment was originally scheduled for earlier in 2020, however, a shortage of supply for the local market delayed those plans.

“We wish to assure the Belizean consumers that our domestic market is always first and will not suffer any shortage of QPP products as we will continue to supply at the affordable prices you always enjoy,” QPP said.

A company representative told BBN that the date for the next shipment will depend largely on how quickly the items sell in Grenada, but that the company is using the knowledge and experience gained from the endeavor to wars the greater goal of tapping into even more markets within the Caribbean.

“We thank you for your steadfast support over the last 45 years. We wish all Belizeans a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!” QPP added.
