GSU disbanded; new Gang Intelligence Investigation and Interdiction Unit formed

By BBN Staff: Today, the Belize Police Department announced that effective January 1st, 2021, the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) will be disbanded.

In addition, the Belize Police Department has formed the Gang Intelligence, Investigation and Interdiction Unit.

The Police Department says that the new branch will be under the command of Senior Superintendent Lenden Flowers.

Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams has authorized the creation of a new region within the Eastern (Police) Division to be called Eastern Division- Region Four with effect from January 1, 2021.

The new Region Four will comprise all that area which currently falls under the responsibility of the Coastal Executive Officer.

The Commander for Eastern Division-Region Four will be Superintendent Christopher Noble. Because of this change, Assistant Superintendent Basil Reyes will assume the post of Officer Commanding the San Pedro Police Station.
