Missing Peter August gate a matter for Ministry of Sports, says Minister Julius Espat

By Aaron Humes: Pursuance of charges related to the alleged theft of the steel gate at the Peter August Stadium in Santa Elena Town is a matter for the Ministry of Sports, Minister Julius Espat said today.

The gates were recovered this morning at a different property.

Espat said the information was provided to the relevant Ministry for them to pursue.

Concurrently, an audit is planned into the Ministry of Housing and potentially Belize Infrastructure Limited. The Ministry of Housing was notorious for doing little to nothing with their slice of the budget. He noted that, for instance, 300 persons whose mortgages were written off have yet to get their title.

Espat noted that one building, the planned building for the Ministry of Finance on Lake Independence Boulevard is costing $28 million and more to construct and has not been completed. But the decision to either end the construction or continue will be up to the Government collectively.
