PAHO: 2021 pandemic in the Americas could be worse if we relax

By BBN Staff: Cases of COVID-19 in the Americas continue to rise and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) warns that is containment measures relax, this year could be worse.

COVID-19 cases continue to surge with alarming high cases in Caribbean nations, even as first doses of the vaccine are being conducted, PAHO said.

“If we remain diligent, we have the power to control this virus. If we relax, make no mistake, 2021 could well be far worse than 2020, PAHO Director Carissa Etienne.

Etienne particularly showed data from Belize and Costa Rica where cases continue to rise.

Concerning spikes have also been recorded in Cayman and Virgin Islands, Barbados, the Grenadines, Bonaire, St. Vincent as well as her native Dominica, she said.

While in South America, countries have seen a rise in cases.
