Police seek assistance in locating hit and run driver

Posted: Friday, February 5, 2021. 10:58 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department is asking the public to help locate a driver that killed a man in a hit and run collision last week.

St. Matthew’s Village resident Mauricio Cortez was walking along the George Price Highway around 8:00 p.m. on January 31, when a small “dark-colored” car knocked him down, killing him. The driver then drove off without stopping to render assistance.

Anyone with knowledge of the incident is asked to report what they know by calling 922 or the nearest police station. Tips can also be sent anonymously through the P3 App at www.P3tips.com.
