Uncle allegedly stabs nephew in family dispute

Posted: Sunday, March 14, 2021. 10:34 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: 28-year-old Deon Brackett of Central American Boulevard is stable in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after being stabbed allegedly by a family member this afternoon.

Around 2:00 p.m. Brackett was in front of his yard with three other persons when his uncle Windell Arnold approached and attacked him with a small machete which was modified to a carving knife. Police allege Arnold, 54, stabbed Brackett in the body as many as seven times. He is stable in hospital but recovering from a collapsed right lung among other injuries.

Police investigations reveal Arnold and his sister, Deon’s mother, had a previous misunderstanding where he “disrespected” her and Deon intervened to address the issue. Police therefore believe that the stabbing may be related to this previous incident.

Police have obtained a witness statement and detained Arnold, as well as recovered various pieces of evidence including the knife used in the incident.
