Lord Michael Ashcroft says Government should also tackle issues that unions have raised

By Zoila Palma: In this morning’s session of Open Your Eyes, Lord Michael Ashcroft said that besides the measures that Government proposes to restore the economy, government should also tackle areas that the union are talking about.

Those issues include corruption and Ashcroft says that he had made a suggestion of a whistleblowers act.

“What is the content of that act? It can be that whistleblowers provide information that lead to the recovery of cash or assets and get 10% and immunity from prosecution,” Ashcroft said.

In addition, Ashcroft explained that in the United Kingdom there is a wealth order that works when someone has assets that their known income does not substantiate, then an order is served and if they cannot explain their source of wealth, the state confiscates those assets.

Ashcroft said that if Government is serious about corruption, it should follow that path.
