Belize National Football Team records ‘Get Vaccinated Today’ video

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize and the Belize National Football Team players have recorded a promotional ‘Get Vaccinated Today’ video to encourage the Belizean populace to get vaccinated.

“I did it for me, I did it for you, I did it for all of us,” said the players of the regular men’s football selection and the players of the national beach football team in English, Garifuna, and Spanish.

“So that everybody’s life can go back to normal. Please get vaccinated today. Thank you,” ends the short video.

Ian Gaynair, Deon McCauley, Isaac Castillo, and Woodrow West represent the Belize National Men’s Team while Evan Mariano, John King, and Norman Nuñez represent the Belize Men’s Beach Soccer National Team.

“The FFB wanted to join efforts with the Ministry of Health and the Government of Belize to encourage people to get vaccinated,” said the FFB’s Communications and Marketing Director Yashmin Juan who put together the vaccination campaign video. “We know that our athletes are mentors for a lot of people, they are role models and so we wanted to use that platform to encourage people to get vaccinated.”

“As the Federation, the athletes, and everybody really, we want to get back to normal and the only way that we see, maybe, that things can get back to normal as soon as possible is for everybody to get back vaccinated. So, we wanted to join that global campaign and be part of that encouragement.’

So far, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness over 40,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Belize.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness urges everyone who is 18 or over to get vaccinated today.
