Belize City resident charged with the murder of Gerald Tillet Jr.

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have found the person they believe is responsible for the shooting death of 17-year-old Gerald Tillet Jr., which happened last week.

That person is Belize City resident Kalief Raheim Caseres,18, who was officially arrested and charged yesterday for murder.

Tillet was shot and killed on the night of Thursday, May 6, while riding his bicycle on Bagdad Street, Belize City.

Reports are that the gunman approached him from behind and fired several shots, killing Tillet on the spot, then ran into a nearby alley.

Authorities are exploring the possibility that there may be some connection to the murder and the fact that Tillet Jr. is the son of deceased George Street Gang boss, Gerald “Shiney” Tillett. Authorities are also concerned that the murder may fuel an ongoing gang rivalry, sparking retaliation and further bloodshed.
