Belmopan Bandits (Police) beat Summer Fever 165-164 in Game One of National Division 1 Cricket Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belmopan Bandits defeated Summer Fever of Bermudian Landing 165-164 with six wickets to spare in Game One of the Belize National Cricket Association’s (BNCA) Barry Bowen/Harrison Parks finals at the Governor General’s field in Belmopan over the weekend.

For Summer Fever batting first, Maurice Castillo scored 44 runs. Team captain Kenton Young added 20 runs, Jovanni Baizar 19 runs, and George Hinds 16 runs before they were all out at 164 runs.

The Bandits surpassed them with 165 on 56 runs by Leeron Muslar who was not out, 36 by Glenford Banner, 26 from Jermaine Smith, 21 from Calbert Reynolds and 17 from Greg Scott.

The second game of the finals comes up on Saturday at Bermudian Landing at 10 a.m. Bandits will crown themselves champion with a victory but Summer Fever will stretch the series to three if they defend the home turf.
