By Zoila Palma: The Belize Defence Force is facilitating a 7-week military paralegal course.

The course began on May 25 and is focused on preparing potential Military Paralegals to understand the legal system that exists within the country by integrating military law with it.

The course is divided into 4 phases: Professional Development, Civil Law Training, Rules of Engagement, and Military Law Training.

The twenty-five participants include officers from the Belize Defence Force, the Belize Police Department and a civilian from Accounts Office at the Belize Defence Force.

The course director is Attorney at Law, Major Lionel Olivera.
