Verdes don’t know much of Scotiabank Concacaf League opponent Santos de Guápiles, start training next week

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes are playing against Costa Rican club Santos de Guápiles in the Scotiabank Concacaf League (SCL), an opponent who they don’t know much about.

Verdes Assistant Manager and Communications Officer Jose Perez said Verdes are more concerned with getting to the regional championship in excellent condition.

“In summary, it’s a rival we don’t much of, however, we have always developed a Verdes FC that [can] compete at the highest level,” Perez said.

After the Scotiabank Concacaf League draw which pits Verdes against the Costa Rican club, the Cayo-side are set to kick off their training next week.

“Therefore, although we are not familiar with our opponent yet, next week we will start our training and overall preparation to ensure that on game day our team is in excellent condition to compete and win and move to the other rounds,” Perez said.

“We are confident in the set of players we have. Some the best local talents,” he added.

Perez said Verdes are still negotiating with a number of players to finalize their roster prior to the SCL and didn’t want to provide a list of players.

However, according to the FFB National Team roster these nine players were Verdes players up to the last game Belize played against Nicaragua: goalkeepers Woodrow West and Charles Tillett, defenders Norman Anderson and Evral Trapp, midfielders Jordy Polanco, Denmark Casey Jr, Darrel Myvett, and Izon Gill, and striker Krisean Lopez.
