High powered weaponry and drugs removed off the streets in Belize City, San Pedro and Corozal

By Aaron Humes: In separate busts, police have retrieved firearms, ammunition, and drugs abandoned by the criminal element in Belize City, San Pedro Town, and Corozal District.

There was a search of an unnamed alley off Euphrates Avenue around 10:30 Friday morning. Retrieved was a Black Hi-point .45 caliber Firearm; Model JHP 45 ACP with an unknown serial number. No one was within the immediate area and the firearm was sealed, labeled, and deposited as found property.

Around 12:13 p.m., officers conducted searches in the San Mateo area of San Pedro Town in Ambergris Caye near a small garbage dump. As a result, they discovered a Hungarian FEG 9mm hand pistol with an empty magazine wrapped in a red shirt inside a white paint can. No one was in the immediate area at the time and as a result, the firearm was sealed, labeled, and deposited as found property.

And also on Friday, Police conducted searches in a cane field in an area behind Chan Chen Village, Corozal District, which led to the discovery of a brown knapsack containing a black plastic bag. Upon opening the bag officers discovered suspected cannabis, and 20 308W brand 7.62 caliber live rounds of ammunition. The suspected drugs were weighed and amounted to a total of 343 grams (12 ounces). Both the suspected drugs and ammunition were sealed, labeled, and deposited as found property.
