Mirtha Welch wins Belize City Council’s Women’s 5-mile race

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Mirtha Welch won the Belize City Council’s Women’s 5-mile race held on Saturday in Belize City.

The race started at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex, headed to the Baron Bliss Lighthouse and returned to the Marion Jones.

Jinelle Pott of the Coast Guard was second in 46.55.

51-year-old Teresita Grajalez won 3rd place in 49:02.

Verenise Rodriguez ran in fourth in 57:26.

Kaya said she’s planning another race for August when she returns from Chicago where she is competing in the Intelligentsia Cup, a ten-day cycling event, as of July 16.
