By BBN Staff: Today, two people who were convicted of human trafficking charges back in September were given the maximum sentence under the law.
Jeffery Perez, 25, and Petrona Inez Montejo, 51, were both convicted on September 28, 2021, in the Dangriga Supreme Court before Justice Antoinette Moore.
At their sentencing hearing today, Jeffery Perez was given the maximum sentence of 12 years imprisonment for the crime of “Child Prostitution”. Meanwhile, Petrona Montejo was given a sentence of 10 years imprisonment for “Procuring a child for sexual exploitation”.
The duo was arrested following an investigation by the Anti-Trafficking In Persons Unit in the Cayo District.
