Dancing sensation Hezron Ellis prepares for next round of NВС Wоrld оf Dаnсе Соmреtіtіоn

By Benjamin Flowers: Back in July, we reported that Corozal resident, twеntу-fоur-уеаr-оld Неzrоn Еllіѕ became the first Belizean ever to become a contestant on NВС’s Wоrld оf Dаnсе Global Visual Соmреtіtіоn. Breaking Belize News caught up with Ellis this week to find out that the next round of the competition is upon him and he has until November 19, to submit his next video for review.

Ellis explained that, for this round, he has been tasked with choreographing a video to the song “Red eye” performed by Justin Bieber and featuring TroyBoi.

“The competition is tougher than ever. I see a lot of people mixing it up and incorporating different styles of dancing into their routines, so I will need to do the same,” Ellis said. “I have to incorporate some of our own diverse cultures into my visuals because I have to make sure that Belize comes out on top or at least represent us well.”

Ellis says the song chosen for him gives him the opportunity to try new things with his routine because of its slower pace and the fact that he has been given recommendations by the contest judges on ways to improve his routines, helping him to produce the best submission possible.

He notes that he continues to seek sponsorship and that thоѕе wіѕhіng tо оffеr thеіr ѕuрроrt tо Еllіѕ’ drеаm оf rерrеѕеntіng Веlіzе оn thе wоrld ѕtаgе саn gеt іn tоuсh wіth hіm аt 628-4745 оr vіа еmаіl аt hеzrоnеllіѕ662@gmаіl.соm. According to the World of Dance’s official website, there are over 25 countries competing in the competition. This competition is designed to acknowledge the best video submissions and assigns half of its points to dancing criteria while the other half is assigned to video production criteria.

“Unlike our live events, participating in WOD DV does not mean that the best dancer will take the prize…” explained World of Dance president and founder David Gonzalez.

The competition consists of solo, duo and crew, divisions with a $3,000 cash prize set for the winners. There will also be awards given out for each division as well as specialty awards such as Best Cinematography, Best Music Remix, Best Costume & Attire, Best Choreography, Best Concept, and Best Edit & Effects. WOD notes that, apart from the cash and awards, dancers also have the exposure of being promoted on the WOD networks, which has a following of over 20 million.
