Old Capital is last standing as COVID recession continues

By Aaron Humes: The country’s largest municipality is presently its only one with double digits in active cases of COVID-19.

Belize City saw 21 of 31 new cases for mainland Belize District, the others in Caye Caulker (six), Lord’s Bank, Mahogany Heights, Sandhill and Maskall. San Pedro Town added another four.

There were 17 combined cases in the Northern districts including 8 in Corozal and Orange Walk Towns.

Stann Creek and Toledo Districts combined for 35 new cases, including six in Dangriga and three in Punta Gorda.

Cayo added 28 new cases, most in San Ignacio (six) and Benque Viejo Town (three).

Mainland Belize District has passed 9 thousand confirmed cases, followed by Cayo with more than 5,800, Orange Walk more than 4,200, Stann Creek approaching 4,000, Corozal and Toledo closing in on 2,500 each and San Pedro passed 1,500.
