BREAKING: ACP Marco Vidal to be recommended to Security Services Commission for suspension

Posted: Monday, November 29, 2021. 1:01 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Pending the completion of an internal investigation later today, the Commissioner of Police Chester Williams said that Marco Vidal, Assistant Commissioner of Police and former Commander for Operations, will be recommended to the Security Services Commission to be suspended from Police service pending a hearing.

The file is to be provided to CEO of the Ministry of Home Affairs Kevin Arthurs, who will formally make the recommendation.

Vidal, a senior officer, is being investigated in relation to the arrest of several officers working in his Commander Operations Special Team (COST) after the discovery of a drug plane in Bladen, Toledo District nearly a month ago. Vidal himself has not been directly accused of any involvement.

The Commissioner of Police Chester Williams in making the announcement at a press briefing did not provide any detail on why ACP Vidal, currently on administrative leave, is being recommended for suspension.
