By Aaron Humes: Miss World Belize Markeisha Young is still in the hunt for the Miss World title despite the pageant’s postponement on Thursday due to COVID issues.
She wrote on Saturday on her personal social media page, “Everything happens for a reason. We may not understand it now but God does and that’s all that matters.”
Young and fellow contestants remain in quarantine through next week and she awaits the result of her COVID-19 test after 23 fellow delegates were stricken.
Earlier this week according to the ILS Phoenix Foundation, she was 1 of the 4 women selected at the Beauty with a Purpose Gala to present her auction gift.
Young presented “Lady of the Woods”, a sculpture paying tribute to women who kept households in colonial Belize during and after slavery running while men were away chopping logwood for export in the forests.
“The women throughout time have been the backbone of the family while the men
are considered to be the bread winners. Women in Belize, as much as every other country, are strong and resilient,” the Foundation stated in its description of the sculpture.
We continue to follow Markeisha through this journey and will provide updates as we get them.
