Prime Minister John Briceño reflects and plans for 2022; braces for challenges

Posted: Monday, December 27, 2021. 6:10 pm CST.

By Ruben Morales: Prime Minister John Briceño met with his Orange Walk Central PUP Executive Committee on Monday, December 27.

“We are closing out 2021 as the PUP Executive Committee of Orange Walk Central and discussing plans for 2022,” said the Prime Minister.

“Staying focused on the task … improving the quality of life for all our constituents,” wrote the Prime Minister on social media.

One of the most important matters facing the Prime Minister in the Orange Walk district is the ongoing challenges in the sugar industry. Breaking Belize News (BBN) has been reliably informed that elements within the sugar industry are attempting to derail the functions of the Sugar Industry Control Board (SICB) and the Sugar Cane Production Committee (SCPC). In so doing the intent is to weaken the BSCFA and its members by sidelining their ability to deliver their cane to the factory under the auspices of the SCPC on a timely basis.
