By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Prime Minister of Belize John Briceño met with the Charge d-Affaires of the Qatar Embassy to El Salvador to discuss bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Briceño said the courtesy visit by non-resident Charge d’ Affaires from the Embassy of Qatar in San Salvador Tariq Al-Othmam was productive.
“We discussed areas of mutual interest to enhance and expand cooperation between our two nations,” said the Prime Minister, noting that “Qatar is an extra-regional observer of the Central American Integration System (SICA).”
“Potential areas include agriculture, geology, climate change issues, petroleum, infrastructure, food security, and education.”
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Immigration of Eamon Courtenay was also present for the meeting.
Charge d’ Affaires Al-Othmam also met with Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Francis Fonseca, and Chief Executive Officer Dian Maheia.
“The discussions held focused on building relations based on our shared interests and common goals and included opportunities for expanding educational and cultural cooperation,” said the Ministry of Education.
