By Aaron Humes: Has Belize reached the apex of the “Omicron wave” of COVID-19?

The coming days will tell for sure, but while there were 1,255 confirmed cases detected over the holiday weekend, there were also 921 recoveries for a net gain of 334.

This limited the rise in active cases to a total of 7,867 with 339 samples under investigation.

Three new deaths were also reported.

In all, Belize is approaching 42 thousand confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic, with a national infection rate of over 10 percent and a national recovery rate of just under 80 percent.
