Biscayne farmer charged with harm has to stay 100 yards from his wife; forced to leave his home

By BBN Staff: A Biscayne farmer is out on bail following a charge of harm upon his wife, and has to find a new place to live for the time being as the conditions of his bail stipulate that he must keep 100 yards from her.

Forty-one-year-old Richard Dominguez was unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Friday when he was read a single charge of harm on his wife.

The father of six children appeared unrepresented and pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount, which he met.

After learning that he must keep 100 yards from his wife, Dominguez said that he will go live with his father, about two miles from his home until the matter is resolved.

The Magistrate expressed serious concern over the safety of the alleged victim and stressed that she hopes Dominguez will adhere to the bail conditions. She warned Dominguez that if he violates the conditions, he will be sent to jail until the matter has been trialed.

Dominguez is due back in court on March 21.
