New COVID-19 cases continue to accumulate in Belize, Cayo Districts

By Aaron Humes: Over the weekend, a total of 217 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the mainland Belize District, or an average of 72 new cases per day, while 196 were reported in the Cayo District.

The northern districts of Corozal and Orange Walk reported 116 and 111 new cases respectively, while the southern districts of Stann Creek and Toledo reported 88 and 43 new cases respectively.

By municipality, Belize City added 143 new cases; San Ignacio/Santa Elena 65; Orange Walk 58; Corozal Town 48; Belmopan 47 (including surrounding zones); Benque Viejo 29; San Pedro Town 27; Dangriga 23; and Punta Gorda 21. There were also 26 new cases in Ladyville, 21 in Independence, and 12 in San Narciso, Corozal.
