Operation Smile looking for people with cleft palate in Belize to help them out with free procedure

Operación Sonrisa (OS) says it is looking for people with cleft lip or cleft palate in Belize according to a tweet by volunteer nurse @mafpetite.

Operation Smile (Operation Sonrisa in Spanish) provides free services to correct cleft lip or cleft palate, with no limit on age to those in need.

All I can say is that OS is a wonderful option to change lives through great medical assistance and we take care of our patients with absolute love and empathy,” said @mafpetite.

According to its website, Operation Smile says they work in 34 countries where they have thousands of volunteers from 60 different countries. Operation Smile says that after an operation to correct cleft palate, children’s ability to eat, breathe and talk improve considerably. After each operation, the organization provides the children, depending on their needs, integral medical care which includes dental care, speech therapy, and psychological therapy.
