Belmopan are the FFB Elite Men’s U20 National Champions

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belmopan U-20 blanked the Belize District Selection 3-0 to win the FFB Elite Men’s U20 National Champions at the FFB Stadium on Saturday.

After a scoreless match, Belmopan put on the afterburners in overtime to take down the Belize District that had proven very competitive during the 90 minutes. Wilfredo Galvez broke the deadlock in the 108th minute. Kerdel Diaz made it 2-0 in the 114th, before Galvez hit again in the 118th.

Galvez won the tournament’s Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards as the top scorer and best player. Isaac Castillo was voted best goalkeeper and received the Golden Gloves award while Corey Perteau got the Best Defender award.
