By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Leader of the Opposition Shyne Barrow on Easter Monday congratulated Demetrie Meyers on winning the silver medal in the 3000min the U17 category at 49th Carifta Games in Kingston, Jamaica.

“Congratulations Demetrie Meyers who secured the first silver medal for Belize in Jamaica on day 2 of Carifta49 in the Under-17 boys’ 3000 meters in 9:33.42,” said Barrow.

“You make Belize proud.”

On Sunday, 12-year-old Meyers won the silver medal in the 3,000 meters ahead of Jamaica’s Tyrone Lawson (9:34.46) and behind Barbados’ Fynn Armstrong (9:21.31).
