Posted: Sunday, April 24, 2022. 4:30 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Five Belize City men that were charged for gang affiliation have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

On Friday, Reese Anthony Fitzgibbon, 29; Adrian Andrew Welch, 19; Micheal Lionel Francis,32; Jason Horace Anderson, 24; and James Valny Fitzgibbon, 25, were all remanded until June 22.

In court, the men were told that they can apply for bail through the Supreme Court with the assistance of an attorney.

The men are the latest arrests in a crackdown on gangs that the Belize Police Department has been on since the month of February after gang feuds caused several shootings and murders in Belize City.

Several Belize City gangs have had numerous men accused of being affiliated with them and have been sent to prison recently including the Supal Street Bloods/4th Genna Gang, Majestic Alley Crips, and the Jerusalem Bone Yard Crips Gang (JBYC).

The Crime Control and Criminal Justice Act, which received specific amendments to tackle the issue of gangs, mandates prison remand for the crime of “Being a member of a gang.”
