Verdes, Altitude draw 0-0, both celebrate FFB Top League Championship and Subchampionship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: For the second championship in a row, Verdes finished undefeated but couldn’t complete the championship with the perfect record of ten wins.

As in the FFB Top League Opening Championship, they closed the season with a draw. The last time it was the San Pedro Pirates at Ambergris Stadium who held them even, now it was Altitude who kept them at bay finishing with a scoreless draw at Independence on Saturday night. The Green Machine finished the Closing Championship with nine wins and a draw for a total of 28 points.

Still Verdes were able to celebrate another FFB Top League Championship and will represent Belize in the next Concacaf League.

Independence’s Michael Ashcroft Stadium was full to capacity for the season’s Grand Finale, driving their team, Altitude FC, against the National Champions.

In the end both celebrated: Verdes as Champions, Altitude as Subchampions. With the draw, Altitude were able to stave off San Pedro who demolished Garden City 6-0 at San Pedro.

Meanwhile, in Belize City, Caesar Ridge beat Wagiya 4-3 and jumped them to get out of last place.
