Belize to co-host Tradewinds joint military forces exercise alongside Mexico

By Benjamin Flowers: This weekend, Belize will be co-hosting the Exercise Tradewinds 2022 joint military exercise alongside Mexico.

The Ministry of National Defence and Border Security announced today that the exercise, which is sponsored by the United States Southern Command, will run from 7th – 21st May 2022.

The countries participating in Exercise Tradewinds 2022 include: Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dominica, Dominican Republic, France, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, St Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America, Mexico, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

“This initiative focuses on the interoperability between security forces and partner agencies to counter transnational crimes and to promote regional security and stability against threats and natural disasters,” the Ministry said.

The Ministry added that the exercise will also further enhance the participating nations’ ability to conduct joint humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations.
