Defending champions Jewel Fury battle Sagitun GIRLZ for top spot in National Amateur Women’s League A

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Defending champions Jewel Fury face-off with leaders Sagitun GIRLZ for the top spot in National Amateur Women’s League A on Saturday.

The match kicks off at 4:00 pm at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.

Presently the visiting Sagitun GIRLZ lead the NAWL A with nine points after four matches. Jewel Fury, who started off badly, appears to have taken care of the problems they encountered at the beginning and have won their last games, shocking previous leaders Rumberas last week. Fury now has seven points and they mean to wrestle away the top spot from the Sagitun GIRLZ. But the Independence side will have none of that.

Meanwhile, the Verdes Rebel Girls are on the hunt for their first win. Having only one point, today they clash with the visiting San Pedro Pirates, who have four, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio at 3:00 pm. But to come out of last place Verdes would need to beat San Pedro by two goals to tie the islanders in points and edge them out in goal differential. San Pedro, for their part, are trying to catch up with Rumberas, who have seven points.

Rumberas rest this weekend.
