Belizean riders rake top spots Chetumal cycling race

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean cyclists dominated the “Carrera Ciclista Por El Sueño Quintanarroense” (the Cycling Race for the Quintana Roo Dream) in Chetumal on Saturday winning the Elite, Masters, and women’s events.

In the Elite Category teams, 501 Valvoline and Westrac Alliance, raked the top five spots.

501 Valvoline Cycling Team’s Oscar Quiroz ran away with the top spot in the “Carrera Ciclista Por El Sueño Quintanarroense” (the Cycling Race for the Quintana Roo Dream) in Chetumal.

Quiroz was followed by Westrac Alliance’s Wasani Castro in second. His 501 teammate Joshua Fuller was third, Westrac’s Byron Pope rode in fourth, and Brandon Cattouse finished fifth.

Other Belizeans, Carlton Robinson of Westrac, Derrick ‘Baby Chav’ Chavarria of 501 Valvoline, and Edgar Nissan Arana were in the lead group heading to the tape.

Fitzgerald ‘Palas’ Joseph won the Masters 5+ Category.

And Alicia Thompson ran away with the top prize in the Women’s Category.
