By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize had representation at the Knoxville Caribbean Jerk Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Adma Chuc from San Ignacio and her family set up a booth at the Jerk Festival at the World Fair Park downtown Knoxville on Sunday, May 29.

Chuc said she visited the fest in 2021 and was invited to represent Belize this year. So, she organized a food and information booth. She said the Belize Tourism Board provided her with brochures when she visited Belize in February.

She said they had “Rice’n’Beans and in less than 3 hours all was done and we had panades, garnaches, and ceviche”.

“A handful of Belizeans came all the way from Chicago and the energetic Belizeans living in Knoxville came to support the event. The Honorary Consul of Belize in Chicago Mrs Leticia E Castellanos was present as well,” Chuc said.

Chuc, who is a photographer, said she is satisfied with the participation and hopes to get a Belizean entertainer for next year’s fest. She said she’s interested in promoting Belize in the state of Tennessee where Belize is not very well known.

Chuc said she’s been invited to the University of Tennessee for June 21 to give a talk on Belize.
