By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under 15 Belize Girls National Football Team (BGNT) will today play Nicaragua for fifth place in the U15 FIFA FORWARD UNCAF Championship at the José Joaquín Coyella Fonseca Stadium in San José, Costa Rica.
Both Belize and Nicaragua finished third in their groups and will face off to determine who takes the fifth spot on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
On Thursday, Belize fell 10-0 to the Dominican Republic. That put the Dominican Republic first with six points, El Salvador second with three points, and Belize last without any points.
In Group A, Puerto Rico blanked Honduras 2-0 while Costa Rica drew 2-2 with Nicaragua. Costa Rica finished top of the group with seven points. Puerto Rico were second with six points. Nicaragua were third with two points and Honduras fourth with one point.
In today’s second game El Salvador will face Puerto Rico for third place at 4:30 pm. The final match will feature Costa Rica playing the Dominican Republic at 7:00 pm for the championship.
