By BBN Staff: Erick Salazar Guzmán, who pleaded guilty to a charge of death by careless conduct for a traffic accident that claimed the life of Ladyville resident Jamalski Young, has been ordered to pay Young’s family over $4,000 in compensation.

Guzmán, who pleaded guilty to the charge on May 25, appeared in court for his sentencing hearing on Tuesday, before Madam Justice Susan Lamb. For the offense itself, Guzmán was fined $2,750, which must be paid in a year or he will face six months in prison for default.

Justice Lamb also ordered that Guzmán pay the sum of $3,000 to Young’s common law wife for the benefit of his daughter, and $1,500 to the mother of his young siblings to be shared equally among them.
