By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday congratulated Rochelle Cassanova for 30 years of dedicated service.
“The National Sports Council would like to congratulate Mrs. Rochelle Cassanova for her 30 years of dedicated service and commitment,” said the National Sports Council in a social media post.
“Mrs. Cassanova has been such a significant part of our team and we couldn’t imagine our workplace without her!”
Cassanova joined the National Sports Council after completing her Associates Degree in Secretarial Science from Saint John’s College Sixth Form (now SJC Junior College) in 1992.
She’s been at the NSC since the days when the NSC was housed at the old Civic Centre before moving to the Marion Jones Sports Complex.
Cassanova is now the Human Resources Administrator. She started out as secretary of the Physical Education Department and has also been office administrator/secretary.
“I’ve always been the secretary for the Director, but I always had to do other duties. I supervised the staff, dealt with the [sports] associations, and also liaised with the NSC Board,” Cassanova told Breaking Belize News (BBN).
Casanova said she had enjoyed the 30 years at the NSC.
“It’s been a learning experience because I’ve been through so many different directors and administrations. They come and go, no” she said.
“It’s been interesting to deal with different characters, different personalities but I’ve loved my time here because I learned a lot along the way. That’s why I stayed because it helped me to grow as well.”
Cassanova is married and has two sons.
