By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Sagitun GIRLZ stung Rumberas 3-0 for a second week in a row and qualified to the National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) A Finals.

Though Rumberas were dominant during the regular season Sagitun GIRLZ upended them twice, winning the final’s ticket by a more than convincing 6-0 aggregate score.

On Saturday on a mucky Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence, the Sagitun GIRLZ disposed of Rumberas in just 18 minutes. Sabrina Eiley converted in the 6’ and Reah Burgess in the 8’. Anna Ortega put the game away in the 18’. Eiley and Burgess also scored in the first semifinal.

“We’re heading to the finals. 2 legs, 6 goals for, 0 against!! Sweet victory!! One gae at a time!! One game to go!!” said the Sagitun GIRLZ in a social media post.

“Congratulations Sagitun on a historic win!!! Well deserved!!! Go for the win!!!” said Rumberas FC after the match in a social media post.

“My Rumberas, that’s football. You win some and you lose some. Today we lost … let’s hold our heads high and continue in the fight!!! Thanks to all who had faith in us and also to those who supported us.”

Now, the Sagitun GIRLZ prepare for the San Pedro Pirates, who took out National NAWL Champions Jewel Fury, in a one-shot final on Saturday, July 9 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
