By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Nineteen women graduated from Belize City Council’s 3rd Annual Cosmetology Workshop and were recognized by the municipal government at a Certificate Ceremony on Monday.

“Through the Belize City Accelerator Program, today we congratulate 19 participants who are now well on their way to becoming successful businesswomen in cosmetology having completed our Cosmetology Workshop!” said the Belize City Council in a press release posted on social media.

“The trainees today were not just given books to read or an exam to sit; they were given real-life experiences by going into professional hair salons to observe, practice, and get first-hand knowledge of how the cosmetology business works.”

The Belize City Council said they were taught how to do hair, nails, facials, eyebrows, eyelashes and make up at salons such as Rakhi’s Salon Studio, Dream Nails and Hair Salon, Abraham Hairmoda, and Mahi Beauty Salon in Belize City.

The post thanks Mayor Bernard Wagner, Councillor Javier Castellanos, Councillor Edmund Kwan, Councillor Natasha Pipersburgh, members of the business community for helping to facilitate the training. The Council’s BCAP partners, the Local Economic Development Unit and the participants “who genuinely dedicated their time and attention to learning these skills” were also recognized by the Belize City Council.
