Couple busted inside home with weed hidden under kitchen sink; Man takes the rap so his partner could go free

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City couple was charged jointly for drug possession this week; however, the man took responsibility so his commonlaw wife would be spared from the charge.

Forty-three-year-old Ernest Foreman and 34- year-old, Tamantha Garbutt appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday charged with possession of controlled drugs with respect to 31 grams of marijuana found in their home by police.

Foreman pleaded guilty to the charge, which prompted the prosecution to drop the charge against Garbutt.

Since he was a first-offender, the court fined him $350.00 plus a $5.00 cost of court fine of which he must pay by October 31, 2022 in default, or face 3 months imprisonment.

Police visited their home on Tuesday morning with a search warrant and K-9 patrol unit. The dog sniffed out the marijuana which was hidden under their kitchen sink.
