By Breaking Belize News Staff: Thirty-year-old Dean Dawson who was previously out on bail for a charge of gang affiliation, had that bail revoked for being charged with another offense while out on bail. However, during Dawson’s court appearance today, he was granted bail for the new offense.
On February 3, Dawson was charged with being a member of a gang and granted bail in the sum of $5,000. Among the many conditions of his bail, Dawson was instructed not to be criminally charged for any offense while out on bail; however, on August 31, he was charged with assault.
He was remanded to the Belize Central Prison on September 5, while the Supreme Court determined if he was in violation of his bail conditions, and on Thursday, the court confirmed that he was. Dawson was given a $2,500 penalty for violating his bail along with having it revoked.
Meanwhile, he could not pay his new bail, granted to him for the assault charge, which was set at $15,000 in cash.
He was further remanded to the Belize Central Prison until he is able to meet his bail.
