By Breaking Belize News Staff: The National Meteorological Service says fair weather prevails in the early going before the impact of Tropical Storm Julia begins later this evening.
Skies today will start sunny with cloudy spells, becoming mostly cloudy to overcast tonight. A few showers, thunderstorms or periods of rain will occur countrywide with activity increasing especially along the coast and offshore tonight.
High temperatures peak at 86 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast; 87 degrees over inland areas and 77 degrees in the hills. Tonight’s low temperatures are 76 degrees along the coast, 70 degrees inland and 66 degrees in the hills.
Winds start from the north to northeast at five to 15 knots, increasing to 10 to 20 knots later. Seas start light chop to choppy, becoming moderate.
A small craft caution is in effect for gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms, likely to be upgraded to a warning by tomorrow and so mariners are advised to start making any necessary preparations. A flood warning is in effect for localized flooding over some low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Tides will be high at 8:52 this morning and 9:09 this evening and low at 3:13 this afternoon. The sun sets at 5:35 this evening and rises at 5:44 Sunday morning.
Sunday brings mostly cloudy to overcast skies with numerous showers, thunderstorms and periods of moderate to heavy rain will affect the entire country and especially the south and center on Sunday, along with strong to near gale force breeze. Activity is expected to increase entering Sunday night.
