Ladyville man held by authorities after a road traffic accident on Philip Goldson Highway

By Aaron Humes: A deliveryman of Ladyville, Belize District, is being held pending further investigation and prosecution in the death of Daniel Thompson, a student also of Ladyville.

According to police, Thompson was riding a black Meilun motorcycle on the Philip Goldson Highway early this morning heading toward the Burrell Boom Road junction when he was run into by a red Dodge Challenger car upon passing the curve after Tubal Trade Institute, between miles 12 and 13. Police say the motorcycle did not have tail lights and the area was very dark, so it is possible the vehicle driver failed to see the motorcycle in front of him before they collided.

Thompson sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, Belize City. Police have served a notice of intended prosecution on the driver but have not yet charged him pending further investigation.
