Posted: Friday, October 14, 2022. 10:25 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 31-year-old Lord’s Bank resident, charged with gang affiliation has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Gildon Rivers appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, charged with being a member of a gang.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense and asked the court to speak on the details of the case. However, the Magistrate cautioned him that she might not be the one to preside over his case, thus anything said could prejudice the case.

The offense carries a mandatory remand in the first instance, so he was sent to prison until November 15, 2022.

Rivers was informed that he can apply for bail at the Supreme Court through the assistance of an attorney.

Rivers is accused of being a member of the George Street Gang.
