Lots of long weekends ahead in 2023

By Aaron Humes: Whether a result of dates in the calendar or naturally, most of Belize’s public and bank holidays in 2023 will result in three or four-day weekends.

New Year’s Day, George Price Day, National Heroes and Benefactors Day, Emancipation Day, St. George’s Caye Day, Indigenous People’s Resistance Day and Garifuna Settlement Day will be observed on a Monday while Labour Day and Christmas each naturally fall on a Monday.

The only holidays outside of Monday (including Easter Monday) will be the Easter holidays from April 7 to 10 and Independence Day which falls on a Thursday.

The holidays were officially declared by Minister of Home Affairs responsible for holidays, Kareem Musa.

Remaining holidays in 2022 are Garifuna Settlement Day which is a Saturday and Christmas which is also a Saturday and Boxing Day a Sunday, which will extend the weekend to Monday.
