Belize fall to Panama, 2nd loss at XIX Under-21 Central American Men’s Volleyball Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize fell to Panama today and now tallies a 0-2 record at the AFECAVOL XIX Under-21 Central American Men’s Volleyball Championship being held in Managua, Nicaragua.

Panama was dominant in winning over our team 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-17) at the Alexis Arguello Polideportivo.

Eleazar Mejia scored 9 points and Preston Smith 8 for Belize.

Belize lost the game on errors committing 41 to Panama’s 18. Other than that, Panama controlled the attack gaining 28 points to Belize’s 22. Belize made six blocks and served six aces to Panama’s 4 and 2.

Victor Pérez led Panama with 15 while Emanuel Pérez added 10.

Panama improves their record to 1-1.

Belize fell in the opener on Tuesday to El Salvador 0-3 (19-25, 12-25, 20-25).

Earlier today, El Salvador won their second game beating Honduras 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-14).

Costa Rica plays tonight’s closing match against Guatemala at 6:30 pm.

On Thursday, Belize plays against Guatemala on Thursday at 2:00 pm. The Belize National Team then takes on Costa Rica on Friday at 2:00 pm, battles against Honduras on Saturday at 2:00 pm, and closes against hosts Nicaragua on Monday at 6:30 pm.

The regional championship is organized under the banner of the Central American Volleyball Federations Association (AFEVACOL).
