By Breaking Belize News Staff: Today, family, friends, fellow officers of the Belize Police Department, and Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa, gathered at St. Peter Claver Parish in Punta Gorda Town today, for the funeral of Police Constable #88 Lorray Arzu.

Arzu’s body was carried into the church by her fellow officers, with members of police senior command sitting in the front row along with the minister.

Arzu was one of two victims who were shot in Dangriga Town on Wednesday, October 19. She received a gunshot injury to the head and was taken to Belize City for emergency brain surgery. She died of her injuries on the morning of Sunday, October 16.

While her family and the department must come to terms with her loss, to date, her killer has not been found. The police department has tasked a special investigation team comprised of members from the Special Patrol Unit (SPU) and Mobile Interdiction Team (MIT) to find the shooter.

Breaking Belize News extends its condolences to the family and friends of PC Arzu, as well as the police department in their time of loss.

May she rest in peace.
