By Aaron Humes: 48-year-old Raymundo Castellanos, a Belizean fisherman of Riversdale Community, Stann Creek District, has been charged with arson of a relative’s house in the community located along the Placencia Peninsula.

According to Zulma Aguirre, a hotel manager, she was informed of the fire while at work on Thursday morning. She told police that she had been receiving threats from a family member that he would burn down the house.

Neither Aguirre nor the other occupants were at home but the 30 by 20-foot elevated wooden dwelling was entirely destroyed. Aguirre reported that she lost three dogs, two huskies, and a chihuahua each valued at $1,000; an outboard engine valued at $10,000 and $3,800 in cash. The house itself was estimated to be valued at $100,000.
