By Breaking Belize News Staff: On Thursday, October 20, Ashton Garbutt was granted $3,000 bail for a charge of kept ammunition without a gun license; today, only five days later, he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison on another charge.

Garbutt appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, charged with grievous harm. Allegations against him are that on Friday, October 21, while out on bail, he beat Romero Chi with a metal pipe.

Chi told police that he was walking on Serrosi Street when $2.00 fell out of his pocket. When he picked it up, Garbutt approached him claiming that the money was his and started an argument which ended in Garbutt assaulting Chi with the pipe.

In court, Garbutt was denied bail and sent to prison until December 8.
