By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man was fined in court this week after pleading guilty to a charge of aggravated assault.
Twenty-three-year-old Clint Geban appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged with a single count of aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument (a machete) against his neighbor 44-year-old Errol Pollard.
In court, Geban wasted no time in pleading guilty and since he was a first offender, was fined $1,000 plus $5 cost of court. He has until February 14, 2023, to pay the fine or he will spend six months in prison.
Pollard told police that he was on Kraal road on November 4, when Geban came up to him, pulled a machete from his pants waist, and swung it at him. Geban reportedly said that Pollard had been accusing him publicly of burglarizing his home, which prompted the attack.
