International News: Blizzard leaves more than 60 people dead across the U.S.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A monster winter storm that affected the United States has left over 60 people dead, BBC reports.

The death toll in Buffalo has risen to 28, with thousands still without power.

A driving ban remains in place and emergency officials and military police are helping to manage traffic.

Just as thousands planned to travel for Christmas, airlines canceled thousands of flights, and passengers were left stranded at airports across the country.

Weather experts say that conditions are expected to improve tomorrow with little snowfall.

Officials in Buffalo say that at the peak of the storm, 20,000 people were left without power.

And as the weather gets a bit warmer, officials say that additional issues could arise like flooding as the snow thaws.

Meanwhile, in Erie country, authorities were removing ice and blockages from storm drains ahead of what officials referred to as a “rapid melt”.

U.S. President Joe Biden has approved an emergency declaration allowing federal support for New York State.

“My heart is with those who lost loved ones this holiday weekend,” Biden Tweeted.
